Behavior & Destruction of Property Policy
If your child displays violence or excessive disrespect towards staff and/or students and is creating an unsafe environment for themselves or others, they may be asked to leave camp. Bullying is considered an unsafe behavior at Engage and repeated offenses will not be tolerated. Students who are unable to abide by these rules may be asked to leave camp. Intentional and malicious destruction of the studio and/or other's property will also result in your child being removed from camp. All damage/repair costs are the responsibility of a parent/guardian.
Tuition of the week that these behaviors are displayed will not be refunded. Tuition of any future weeks will be refunded if your child is asked not to return. Deposits are non-refundable.

For Engage to dispense medication to campers, an up-to-date doctor's note must be presented to a camp manager by the first day of camp. Please ensure the doctor's note states when the medication needs to be taken if the medication bottle does not specify. Medications for that specific day must be handed to a camp manager each day of camp and stored in a locked container (see "special allowances" below). Engage will only store the amount of medication needed per day, each day. Engage will not accept a medication bottle that has more than the daily dose for the student inside.
Medication Waiver:
All parents/guardians who would like Engage staff to store and administer prescription medication must fill out a medical liability waiver.
Medication Containers:
All medications must be in their original container. The container must be clearly labeled with the medication's name and the camper's name. Medications that are liquids, drops, creams, powders, inhaled, or injected cannot be blister packed and must be kept in their original packaging.
Medication Administration:
All campers must be able to self-administer their scheduled medication. Campers will be required to alert a camp counselor at the time they are to take their medication and will be supervised while taking their medication. If the camper requires some sort of timer (like a smartwatch), please ensure the watch is set and charged before attending camp. The camper must be able to identify the medication, its purpose, dosage, and time to take it. They must also understand the consequences of not taking it. Engage and its staff are not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items. Engage staff are not trained medical professionals and are not liable for any accidents related to medication administration.
Medication Expiration:
Parents must replace medications before they expire, and medications cannot be expired or prescribed to other people. Medications that are expired, do not match the campers name, or do not match what the prescription looks like, will not be administered.
Medication Compounding:
Engage Art Studio can only administer medications that have been compounded or mixed by a pharmacy, not at home.
Special Allowances:
The ONLY medications/devices that are permitted to be kept with the counselors/campers are
Medication Pick-Up:
All medications/medication bottles must be picked up on the last day of camp for that week. Medication bottles will be sent home with your student or handed to a guardian at pick-up. If your camper will be joining us the following week, medications are not to be held over the weekend and must be brought back for next week. In the instance of forgotten medication bottles, the bottle will be held for one more week and then properly disposed of if not picked up.
Special Health Circumstances:
Health events such as those listed below may require a release to come to camp.
Please email studio@engagearts.com for further information and release paperwork. If Engage learns of the above after the first day of camp, your camper may not be able to participate in camp for the remainder of the week.
*In all instances regarding Engage and its staff, the word "administer" is meant to describe the act of an Engage employee opening the locked medication box, and handing the medication to the camper that is listed on the bottle. Campers are to open their own prescription medications and self-administer them under supervision. Once the medication bottle is empty for the day, the student will be required to place it in their backpack. Engage staff are unable to touch the medication and all campers must be able to self-administer their prescription medications. Engage staff are unable to mix medications with anything unless listed on a doctor's note.
*Engage and it's staff are not liable for improper handling, dosage, loss of prescription, damage of prescription or its bottle, etc. Engage staff have not been trained to administer prescription medication and the parent/guardian assumes all risk. Engage staff will follow the prescription as listed on the bottle to the best of their ability.
Please check your camper for lice BEFORE arriving at camp. If lice or nits are present, please have your child treated before they come to camp. Any camper with untreated lice or nits will not be allowed to participate in camp activities until treated and the parent/guardian will not receive a refund or credit for camp. You will be asked at check-in if you have checked your camper for lice prior to arrival.

No! We make sure that campers do not repeat projects, regardless of how many weeks they sign-up for!
Unfortunately, we do not have enough wheels for all of our campers to try wheel-throwing. All campers will have other opportunities to work with clay during summer camp. Interested in wheel-throwing classes? Check out our kids classes, as they run all year long!
Smocks are available in-studio during messy projects however, we do recommend wearing clothes that you/your child does not mind getting messy. Please also send your camper in sneakers, as we do have outdoor fun as well! An extra set of clothes may be a good idea for a younger camper.
A water bottle and a snack or two are a great idea to bring, as we have breaks between projects! If your child is eating lunch with us, send your camper with a lunch box with an ice pack. Just let us know day of if your child will be staying for lunch. For younger campers, pack an extra set of clothes into a drawstring bag just in case an accident happens!
We typically do about two projects in the morning and two projects in the afternoon, breaking mid-day for lunch from 12-1 pm. Students will do drawing and painting projects, sculptural and mixed media projects, as well as clay projects. Between each project, students will have a chance to grab a drink and a snack. We have a front room with toys that campers will be able to use during certain free times. When the weather is nice, campers will be able to use our patio space to play as well as create projects and sometimes eat lunch. Camp teachers organize outdoor games and activities as well! At the end of the week, all clay projects will be sent home as well as anything that has been in the works. Campers with early drop-off or late pick-up will have access to toys and free time crafts.
Yes. All of our art teachers/instructors, and summer camp counselors have completed all clearances necessary in order to work with children in the state of Pennsylvania.
Please be aware in our parking lot, as we do have studio cats on the property. Baelfire, our gray studio cat, is up to date on all vaccinations and has preventative flea and tick treatments. Please do not pet animals without the supervision of Melissa.
- We ask that campers under the age of 10 not bring electronic devices (ie. phones, games, Smart Watches, etc.). Kids will be using materials that may damage electronic devices. Students 10 and over are able to bring phones and Smart Watches however, we will not be held liable for any damaged/stolen electronic devices. Please ensure that your child understands that phones/watches are not to be used during project time other than to find reference images if allowed. Devices can be used during breaks for other appropriate purposes.
- Please do not bring stuffed toys, fidget toys, etc., as we use materials that may ruin toys. We will not be held liable for any damages to toys/electronic devices.
The majority of our campers are between the ages of 6 and 11. There are also a handful of students ages 12 to 14 in each session.
Of course! Check out our hours and pop in when we are open! Please note that we do offer classes Monday through Saturday. Our studio is pretty quiet Monday through Friday from 12 to 4:30 pm. See our "Kids School Year Classes" tab to see when we are bustling with class and find a time that works best for you!
